Audience

This course is suitable for social workers, early help staff, family support workers, colleagues in youth offending teams, youth workers, voluntary and community sector staff and secondary school teachers.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the participants should be able to:

  • Apply insights gained into neurobiology and adolescent brain development in interactions with adolescents
  • Demonstrate an understanding of adolescent risk-taking behaviour (including self-harm and suicide)
  • Identify the most common mental health problems in adolescents
  • Apply knowledge to support adolescents to develop resilience

Information

St Paul’s Centre is located in the heart of St Helier, along New Street. The nearest car park is at Minden Place.

There are a number of sandwich takeaways and cafes within a short walk or bring a packed lunch which can be eaten on the premises. Tea and coffee will be provided at break times (mid morning and mid afternoon) free of charge.
