The Safeguarding Partnership Jersey has published its updated guidance on managing differing professional views, following a comprehensive review completed as part of its 2025 priorities.
Now titled Managing Differing Professional Views – Solution Finding Process, the revised guidance reflects a more constructive and solution-focused approach. Language previously associated with ‘dispute’ and ‘escalation’ has been replaced to encourage open dialogue, reflection and shared understanding when professionals hold different perspectives.
The updated document also introduces a clear, time-scaled four-step process. This structured approach is designed to support timely progression of cases, ensuring appropriate oversight and decision-making from managers, Professional Leads and Safeguarding Leads where needed.
In addition, the guidance highlights a range of enhanced supportive tools, including supervision, the Continuum of Children’s Needs, chronologies, multi-agency reflective supervision, multidisciplinary team meetings and the Fresh Look process. Colleagues are encouraged to read the guidance in full via the Partnership website.
The Partnership extends its thanks to colleagues across all agencies for their commitment, collaboration and valuable input throughout the review process.
