More than 150 safeguarding professionals from across Jersey came together today for two Safeguarding Partnership events designed to strengthen partnership working, share learning and improve safeguarding practice.
The day began with the Partnership’s second Relevant Providers Networking Event, bringing together around 50 representatives from organisations that play an important role in safeguarding across the Island.
The morning focused on strengthening relationships between partner organisations, providing updates on the Partnership’s current priorities and exploring how effective information sharing can support better outcomes for children, young people and adults at risk.
Attendees heard presentations from the Jersey Care Commission on the regulation of care and the Office of the Children’s Commissioner Jersey, before taking part in a collaborative workshop examining what is working well in information sharing, where arrangements remain fragile and what opportunities exist to strengthen practice further.
The event also provided an opportunity for organisations including Freeda, Mind Jersey, Brighter Futures, Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT) and Family Nursing & Home Care (FNHC) to showcase their services, helping attendees learn more about the support available across Jersey and build new professional connections.
In the afternoon, around 100 practitioners attended the Partnership’s Practitioner Learning Event, which focused on embedding learning from Rapid Reviews and Serious Case Reviews into everyday safeguarding practice.
The event encouraged practitioners to reflect on the conditions needed for effective organisational learning before exploring key themes emerging from Adult Safeguarding Reviews and a thematic review examining adolescents at risk of going missing.
Through presentations, workshops and discussion, practitioners considered how learning can be translated into practical improvements, strengthening professional curiosity, multi-agency working and decision-making across safeguarding services.
Safeguarding Partnership Business Team Manager, Victoria Cavill said:
“It’s been encouraging to see so many colleagues from across Jersey come together with a genuine commitment to learning, collaboration and improving safeguarding practice. Days like today remind us that the strongest safeguarding arrangements are built on trusted relationships, open conversations and a shared determination to keep improving for the people we serve.”
The Safeguarding Partnership Jersey remains committed to supporting collaborative learning across agencies and will continue to provide opportunities for practitioners and partner organisations to connect, reflect and develop safeguarding practice together.
